Cape Schanck House
2002
Cape Schanck, Victoria
Bunurong Country
Discreetly positioned within a landscape of coastal dunes, where rolling grasslands meet the sculptural forms of twisted Moonah trees, Cape Schanck House offers a nuanced response to a delicate coastal setting. Opening to the surrounding environment and natural elements, a purposely restrained palette of stone, timber, and stainless-steel captures and reinterprets the raw beauty of the site as a symbol of the earth, trees, and unique coastal context. The building's simple, elemental forms reflect the inherent boldness of the dramatic coastal setting, ensuring the result is both grounded and authentically connected to the surroundings.
