Kiln House 2

Set on a picturesque rural property with views of Mount Buffalo, Kiln House 2 creates an intimate retreat as a sequence of adaptable indoor and outdoor spaces that offer comfort and connection through the seasons. The original tobacco kiln has a distinctive form with an impressively generous interior, and retaining this core character became a central anchor for the design. A linear addition of new accommodation is an enhancement of the original kiln form, crafting a sheltered and sun-filled courtyard space as a private sanctuary from which to fully appreciate the surrounding high-plains landscape. Sensitively integrated with the original, Kiln House 2 connects to the existing heritage through a contemporary and enduring lens.
