Musk Creek House
2019
Flinders, Victoria
Bunurong Country
Conceived as a responsive addition to its landscape, Musk Creek House is the physical resolve achieved from acknowledging site; responding to its place by taking contextual cues from its unique location. The rectilinear form is anchored to the ridgeline upon which it sits, stepping with the contours to integrate the built form with the landscape.
The home belies its modest scale through generous openings and panoramic views. This form was derived from a brief to capture surrounding views while existing sensitively alongside them and offers a spatial and visual dialogue between the interiors and their surrounds. Musk Creek House is a breathing entity conscious of its impact on the site; where the borrowed landscape elements are as integral to the design outcome and lived experience as the built fabric. Principles of sustainability are integrated into the project at a range of scales from overall form to inner mechanisms.
