Point Lonsdale House

2010

Point Lonsdale, Victoria
Wadawurrung Country

Nestled within the coastal landscape of the Bellarine Peninsula, Point Lonsdale House draws inspiration from the raw textures and subtle tones of the surrounding environment. The weathered palette of rammed earth walls echoes the natural hues of the nearby coastline, creating a seamless connection between the built form and its setting.

The house wraps around a central north-facing garden, with cubic volumes defining distinct zones that cater to multiple generations of family and friends. The configuration allows for privacy while maintaining a sense of openness and connection, encouraging both shared and intimate moments. A two-storey wing anchors the composition, offering elevated views over the adjacent coastal dunes and capturing glimpses of the ever-changing landscape.

In its elemental simplicity, the design reflects the enduring qualities of the coastal environment, ensuring that the house nestles gently within its natural surroundings.
