Shepparton Aquatic Centre

1997

Shepparton, Victoria
Yorta Yorta Country

The Shepparton Aquatic Centre is a central hub for community recreation, nestled between the Goulburn River and Victoria Park Lake within the heart of Shepparton’s Recreation Precinct. Designed as a seamless extension of the surrounding landscape, the Centre connects the water-based leisure offerings with the natural environment, creating an integrated precinct for the local community.

The Centre accommodates a 25m indoor pool, a children’s recreation pool, gym and exercise facilities, all thoughtfully arranged to engage with the central deck and café. Orientation towards the lake fosters a sense of openness and connection with the water.

The architecture is defined by elegant, tapered steel trusses arranged radially, forming a gently curved plan that mirrors the fluidity of the water. Custom tapered skylights top the structure, introducing natural light that enhances the feeling of spaciousness and connection to the outdoors, creating an inviting and uplifting environment throughout the year.
