Walden Shed

2021

Flinders, Victoria
Bunurong Country

Forming part of a series of connected forms – together with existing Cottage and Studio buildings – Walden Shed is its own quiet retreat, transformed from a philosophy rooted in restraint and a deep connection to place. Stripped back to essentials, the form is sensitively reimagined, honouring the modesty of the original elements while still retaining an engagement with the landscape. Defined by an elemental rustic simplicity and spatial resonance, the cottage, shed, and studio sit as separate yet connected elements, each shaped by function and flexibility and new landscape connections. A raw palette of blackbutt timber, metal cladding, brick and OSB sheet lining reinforces a tactile and rustic warmth, while verandas and pergolas frame curated views outward. The home embraces a pared-back life immersed in nature - honest, enduring, and intrinsically tied to its rural Flinders setting.
